Can you believe that Father’s Day is already just around the corner? Yes, that’s right…it’ll be the big day for all the daddies out there in just under two weeks.
How did Father’s Day start?
In the U.S., Father’s Day was first recognized shortly after Mother’s Day was officially recognized. It served as an important complement to the Mother’s Day celebration.
It was Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd, a mother from Spokane, who wanted to honor her father. He had been a single parent to her and her five siblings. The idea was accepted and the celebration was set for the third Sunday in June. Father’s Day is celebrated around the world and in some countries, on different days.
As with Mother’s Day, this was not initially a very commercial event. It was only over time that it has become commercialized. Today, it is hard to avoid being bombarded with gift ideas meant to help you honor your father.
What ideas do you have to honor your father?
I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to do for my dad and my father-in-law. As usual, these can turn into last minute decisions, so I’m still mulling this one over.
What ideas do you have in mind?

As my dad lives away, I got a card ready. He never had a car, so it’s a bike with a pint in the picture. Beautiful forest as a background. All natural!

A great card sounds lovely, especially for a dad who is far away. I still love getting “snail mail”! Thanks for sharing!
