Special Edition: Round ‘Em Up with Cool Bloggers!

SweetJellyBean.com: Beauty, Blog Tweaks

Hello November! Or New-vember for this blog, I’d say. This blog will be going through some major changes and improvement that I’m hoping I’ll be sticking forever! Kind of. Just a heads up, although I’ll be posting on a topic on this separately as well.
For now, let’s take a look into what I call ‘special edition’ Round ‘Em Up post! I know this should have been yesterday’s post but I completely did not realize that it was the end of the month already! I was not on this plane yesterday,  apparently.
This is a special edition because, instead of my own posts monthly round up, I decided to actually get a few of my cool blogger friends involved and get their post featured here! Why? So you can browse around and perhaps find more blogs to follow, of course!
So let’s peruse this post and see these bloggers most…

How do you bring balance to your day?

I have a busy day job.  It’s dynamic and challenging and I love it.  I also find it exhausting at times, due to the demand on my time and energy.

Experimenting with skin care products is a great relief for me.  I get to be creative and try out different things.  I get to experiment with scents, textures and viscosity.  It’s very different from my day job and it provides me with the right balance.  I also love sharing my creations with my family and friends and finding out what they like and don’t like about each one.

As a side benefit, I’m learning lots of tidbits about adding balance to my day.  I recently started brushing my skin in the morning again.  I found out I love it!  It’s a great way to start my day and knowing that I get to do this helps me drag myself out of bed each morning.

I’ve also cut a lot of unnecessary chemicals out of my life.  By making a simple change to a natural soap, I realized that I didn’t need my store bought moisturizer anymore.  And by using dry shampoo a couple of times a week, I’ve cut the times that I have to wash my hair in half each week.  That means I have more time to spend on other things.

How do you bring balance to your day?

Have you brushed your skin lately?

Did you know that your skin releases up to a pound of waste each day?  When it can’t release the toxins efficiently, you might get a rash, itchiness, or hives on your skin.  Some of the first signs of toxicity in your body can show up on your skin.

With this in mind, it makes sense to be mindful of the skin care products that you are using.  This will reduce the amount of toxins you introduce to your body.  In addition to using all natural skin products, you can also add skin brushing to your routine.  Dry skin brushing is a simple practice that can help you maintain healthy skin.

I first heard about this age-old technique a few years ago when I was seeing a naturopath.  She recommended dry skin brushing each morning before I jumped in the shower.  Why?  It would help stimulate blood flow and by extension stimulate my body’s natural healing capabilities.

Jash Botanicals.com gives us a good summary of the benefits of skin brushing.  They include:

–          Skin brushing helps to shed dead skin cells

–          Skin brushing increases circulation to skin, which helps the body get rid of toxins

–          Skin brushing helps eliminate clogged pores

–          Skin brushing helps get rid of toxic body deposits (i.e. cellulite)

So, how do you do it?  It’s simple. Just follow these easy steps:

1.  Buy a brush with natural fibers and a long handle.

2.  Before you get into the shower or bath, brush your skin in long, even strokes.  Always brush towards your heart.

3.  Brush all the way up your legs and arms.  Avoid areas where you have broken skin.

4.  Once you’re done (and hopefully feeling invigorated), jump into the shower!

Dry skin brushing is a great way to start your day.  It only takes a few minutes and does your body a lot of good.  Enjoy!
